Did I mess up?
Bought a 2013 Explorer on an auction, its a bit rough, It only started with key fob in the arm rest. only one badly worn fob. So I got on Amazon and found a device to program another fob. Plugged it into OBD port, had to delete the old keys (can only have 3) programed new fob..locked & unlocked doors opened back hatch. Then I turned the car off... Now it will start with remote start -engine is fine. But when I press the brake the engine stops. And start button does NOTHING, after a few resets by disconnecting the battery to no avail, I bought a new button from Ford..didn't help. Did I somehow fry something? Not being able to start it means I cant take it out of Park. The old worn out key fob didnt open doors, had to use the key, and is totally worthless now. Stuck in the driveway!
The fact that it runs indicates the ECM is OK How much would the Sync unit have to do with it? I hate paying a tow truck on top of Stealership diagnostics and repair.
