Has anyone else seen this? It's only happened to me twice since I picked up the truck in early March, so it's too intermittent to take to the dealer.
I have the Ford remote start, by the way.
Here's what happened. I jumped in the truck, closed the door, put the key in the ignition and turned it on (all the lights illuminate in the dashboard), and everything looks normal. I then turn the key to "start" and absolutely nothing happens. I removed the key completely and try again. Nothing. I remove the key, try a second key, then a third. The engine will not start.
Then I take the remote start on the key fob and cycle the lock and unlock buttons. The doors lock, then unlock. I then put the key back in, and the engine starts right up. Strange.
no.. that hasnt happened to me, but I have jumped into it before, turned the key and it turned over but didnt start. It feels like to me that you have to hold the key in ignition a little bit longer to get it to start.
I think I found the problem. In fact, I don't think it's a problem at all!
I used the key to unlock the driver's door, not the remote fob. When I put the key in the ignition, the engine will not start UNTIL I press the unlock button on the remote start fob. I have a feeling the remote start system is working normally, not letting me start the truck until I push the unlock button.
Can anyone else with the Ford remote start duplicate this? Just make sure the car is all locked up, use the key to get in, then try to start the truck. Thanks in advance!
