Hey guys just got a 2014 F-350 king ranch. Truck only came with one key that was pretty beat up. When I tested out the key fob it was only working very close to the truck and I had to repeatedly press lock/unlock for it to work. I replaced the battery on the fob and it still was doing the same thing. I than figured it was just a beat up key. I purchased a new key from amazon and had ford program and cut it. Well same thing is still happening. Anyone have any idea where I should go from here?
Is this the remote start IKT key fob? Some of them only work about 30 feet from the truck. You can try some of the older standalone RKE fobs to see if the distance is greater.
Manufacturer Part Number: 8L3Z15K601B 8L-3Z-15K-601B
Interchange Part Number: CWTWB1U212 CWTWB1U331 GQ43VT11T CWTWB1U345
Other Part Number: 1788A-FWB1U345 CAN 1470102326 1788104575
Turn the key from the OFF position to RUN (not START) position eight times within 10 seconds
with the eighth turn ending in the RUN position. The doors will lock, and then unlock, to confirm
the vehicle is in programming mode.
Then you push any button of the IKT and the fobs. Once finished programming, you can turn off the key.
This is what I purchased from amazon. Ford programmed it this morning. It works but I literally have to be directly at the car. Anyone thing this is some sort of antenna issue? Anyone know where it’s located?
Ok I’m going to look into this. After some research it appears the TPSM module is next to the receiver at a diagram I looked at. I am getting tire pressure coded too I wonder if they could be related?
Still no luck with the key fob. I opened up the glove compartment to make sure all wires were connected and everything looked good. Not sure where to go from here
What a mystery. The only WAG that comes to mind is RF interference of some sort. If the fob never works, regardless of location, then it might be something in the truck....maybe a charger or some sort of electric circuit, phone, security system or camera that is always on. If it only occurs at certain locations, it could be external to the truck. Good luck.
Still no resolution. Not sure what could be causing the interference. Think I’m just going to get a Viper system installed and call it a day. At least I will be able to have remote start back
I guess it could be just bad luck. I have a f-150 I bought new in 04 and I have always thought the distance they would work from the truck sucked. Kinda pointless to have a FOB when I can walk another 10 steps and be at the door anyway.
I know the fob is new but just because it is doesn't mean it's any good. Amazon keys are not factory but reproductions. It's possible that you problem is still the fob.
My factory remote key used to start my truck with it sitting in the shop 50 yards from the house. All I had to do is walk out on the back porch. Not sure why but now I have to be next to the truck, battery is maybe weak. But, about those Amazon keys I bought one of those too. It worked fine for. awhile. then started acting up. Everytime I used the unlock it gave me an error saying "did not integrate". So I have no faith in aftermarket keys. Bad deal cause Ford keys are 10 times higher. Just saying, that's what happened to me. Good luck.
