I love my new truck!

I've been driving my new to me 2017 F350 since the 1st, and aside from the irony of diesel prices jumping a $1.50 as if in response to my purchase, I love it.

Bought it up in Colorado Springs from a guy who knew what he was doing, and drove it back the same day. Has 187k on it, same owner since 30k, Amsoil every 5-7k, motor craft fuel filters every other oil change, Archoil every tank, tuned and deleted since 100k, DPK, 5" turbo back, relocated cold air intake, etc etc etc. It's a dual alternator truck with the heavy front gvwr, so it will happily run a plow, has upfitter switches, came with the tuner (EZ Lynk) basically everything I wanted other than some of the sexier Lariat features. Even has a 21k factory 3" receiver.

Still getting used to it and learning my way around it, and it's got some little high mileage issues here and there, and various things I'll change eventually, but I am very happy with the purchase.

Just wanted to share. There will be questions.

Looks clean.

Did he ever service the transmission or the differentials/transfer case ?

What about the CCV ?

Its pretty clean! There is some impact damage to the rear bumper, but he included a Move WIY rear bumper NIB. So I'll get that built and installed. I'll probably make a thread about it.

He serviced the transmission, transfer case, and differentials at 100k, so they are due. I'll be getting that squared away shortly.

The CCV is the baffled version.

Great looking rig, I picked up my 2019 in 2022 right after Putin's three day black sea camping expedition and fuel shot up to $6.50 a gallon so I get ya on the bought a diesel and now fuel skyrocketed. Eh well.

That's a sharp looking truck. It's awesome you bought from a guy that takes care of things right.

Always something! Diesel makes the world go 'round so any global catastrophe sends the price up. Seems like this one will *maybe* be on the shorter side. We'll see!

Agreed! I've owned and worked on a lot of high performance and/or specialty vehicles, and when Im looking for something I set myself some basic goals for the target vehicle, but I'm really shopping for the right previous owner. This guy had owned powerstrokes before this one and knew exactly what was needed to care for it.

Other things of note:

The tune is a GDP with lifetime support. I switched it from the SOTF tune to the 0hp custom bc the gas mileage was awful, like <8 mpg in the city awful, with me staying under 2k and coasting as often as possible. Seems like the fuel economy has improved dramatically but I haven't driven much since the update.

It came with the platinum LED's to match the grill and a pre-installed morimoto conversion harness. I tried installing the lights but there is something wrong. The DS low beam flickers and goes out, but works fine if I move it to the PS. I think there's a grounding issue but it's low priority atm.

Wheels and tires are Ultra 203's with MT Baja Boss 35 x 12.5 x 20's. I love the look and the tires, but I will most likely go back to a stock size and OEM wheel.

Has bilsteins and between that and the MT's it rides like a dream.

It has an aftermarket cold side IC pipe and coolant re-route.

And it came with all the deleted emissions components in case I need to go back to stock, which I shouldn't but we shall see on that.

Nice looking rig....congratulations. I too am still enjoying my 2017 F-350, I've had many opportunities to get newer models as they came about, but after seeing a lot of recalls I'll keep mine, its basically the same as new and not as picky.

Congrats on yours.

I’m still trying to figure out what happened to my 2019 King Ranch in shipping it from Missouri to Pennsylvania. Engine tubes all gone (got them back by buying an AutoAgent 3 w EZLink). Transmission tune gone and wouldn’t take an update (failed at 0%, guy at MotorOps suggested I not press my luck while away from home). AC non functioning. Keys not recognized by truck so have to be put in center console well, heated steer wheel doesn’t work.

but I still love her (calling her Dolly).

Nice looking truck, but when you listed a "cold air intake" it immediately cancelled out your other prior statement about how the guy knew what he was doing... While I'd certainly consider a deleted truck, I'd never consider anything with forced induction and a CAI....

The one thats installed moves the battery rearward away from the core support and puts an airbox between the battery and core support rather than routing the inlet air under the battery. It picks up air from the same location as factory just has a larger inlet, more efficient filter, and smoother intake routing. Its basically just reverts the truck to a more efficient design from the prior generation with a slight increase in flow.

But I'm interested in why you would never run a cold air intake on a forced induction vehicle?

Totally agree! I was very close to buying a '20 but I just don't trust the transmission.

Frustrating but it will be worth it when you get it all sorted! That's a beautiful truck!

There are multiple threads on this site alone, but I've seen it myself several times... So called "cold air intake" as a rule do not filter as well as the stock setup. They allow dust and debris into the turbo or supercharger. Over time, this dust destroys the turbo vanes. They get "mushroomed." Oil will also get dirty faster, causing increased wear.
Unless you only keep the truck for a few years, the cold air unit simply is not worth the gamble. I consider any installer of them to be ignorant and hold them in contempt.

So what are your thoughts on something like a k&N drop in replacement in an OEM air box?

IMHO K&N is terrible. My father had one on his truck back in the day. Took out a turbo on his 7.3, the amount of salt fines it let through was staggering.
