Engine Knock

Hello. Picked up a 2013 F350 dirt cheap with what sounds like a top end knock. Reportedly started right after a turbo replacement. Runs fine. 130,000 miles. Can anyone provide some insight before I haul it to the shop? Thanks.

Hard to say, but sometimes an injector can get stuck and cause a metallic pinging noise. I would give it a strong dose of Power Service fuel additive as some have reported this fixed their injector issue.

Thanks. I'll give that a try. I got into it cheap enough that even with putting a motor in it I'm still sitting pretty good on it, but I was hoping it was something a little less costly.

What does the oil look like? If they had the turbo off and didn't drain the coolant enough it filled the crankcase with coolant. I imagine it wouldn't take long to spin a bearing in that scenario.

Oil on the dipstick looks normal. Im going to change it this weekend and send a sample off for analysis.

I'm not that savvy with the powerstrokes yet. I've got an OBDeleven that I think can get me that info, just haven't had the opportunity to dig into it. I understand it could be "fuel knock" from a bad injector. If there's a better option for getting the engine data I'm all ears. Thank you.
