Question 1951 parking brake handle in a 1953 F100

Good day.
I am rebuilding my 1953 F100 project truck. The cab is missing the parking brake handle and the handle for the cowl vent. I have found a pick-a-part place that has these for a 1951 F1. Would either of these '51 parts work in my '53? I am not beyond modding the parts a bit, just don't want to waste my money if they are completely incompatible.

Thanks

The assemblies are different between the generations. If it were me, I'd find the correct 53/56 assembly.

For the cowl vent actuator, you are looking for BAAA-8102122-B

For the parking brake, the assembly for your 53 is TAAA-2780-A

The cowl vent handle is specific to 52-55.

The parking brake handle should be the same if the 51 has the e-brake handle under the dash and not on the floor.

This is the assembly they have for the parking brake. It is in a 51 cab. I have a 53 which is the next generation.

I made a typo in my earlier post.

Cowl vents are the same 53-55. The 51 vent handle will not fit a 53.

The 51 e-brake handle looks the same 53-56. It may however, attach differently under the dash or firewall.

The 48-52 parking brake assembly looks similar but the frame is different because the cab is totally different. I don't think it would be worth the bother to attempt to remake it to fit. There's got to be plenty of the correct assemblies out there.

Here is a picture showing the difference between 48-52 and 53-55. The top one is the 53-55. It has the front cable with it. PM me if interested. BTW, I will be in cental Ontatio this fall and could ship from there if interested.

An electric cowl vent actuator would be an alternative to finding an original handle.

Interesting idea. For the time being, I plan on keeping the truck 6V but we all know it will eventually end up being converted to 12v. I will have to look around and see if I can find something that would work, Shouldn't be too hard or expensive.
