While doom scrolling through YouTube last night the algorithm suggested a video titled "Excursion rally event" or something to that effect. Anyway, it looks like a couple guys are putting on an Excursion event next month at a off-road park near Amarillo Texas.
See link to the sponsor's website below if you're interested in learning more detail. Seems like a cool idea, and its within driving distance for me, thinking about checking it out (BTW, I'm not affiliated in anyway, heck I'd never even heard of either of the two YouTubers until the algorithm suggested the video).
A month away, and 20 hours away drive time. The X visited Cadillac Ranch August of 2017. I'd go but I'm scrambling to get things ready for a Memorial day trip.
I bought a ticket, its a pretty easy driving distance for me and its cheap, figured I've wasted more money on dumber stuff.
If it sucks,,,I'll just drive my happy azz back home. But if nothing else, it'll at least give a me a reason to sit outside in camp chair drinking beer with a scenic view, which is never really a bad time.

Reason: spelling/grammar
IDK, probably because they're YouTubers and forums are a dying (practically dead really) form of social media.
Between YouTube, twitter/X, Insta, TikTok, Facebook, and all the rest, our beloved message board forums get by FAR the least amount of traffic now days.
Perfect example, this thread has been up for over a day, it has a little over 100 views, those are rookie numbers on the big social media platforms.

I think the majority of FTE Excursion owners is dwindling, so many from here have moved on either due to life changes, wrecked or non repairable rigs.
More and more pop up on FB marketplace as parts rigs or someone else's failed dream of bringing it back to life. The "my loss is your gain".
Yeah social media is the downfall to society!! It's a joke when people have their phone glued to their face. Definitely would rather associate with 100 people rather than the remaining amount of ignorance. I'm sorry I mean people
So many people use FB or other media to get car questions answered, there is no easy way to index what is presented unlike a forum.
Give me FTE any day.
Yes, the Excursion group is getting smaller, the newest rig is now 21 years old, parts are harder to come by and age takes its toll on man and machine. I see the same thing on other forums I belong to, the cars are getting older and more appear in salvage yards then are on the road.
There is also a mindset that an old truck cannot do what a new truck can, they can but require TLC.

Even forums aren't immune to the growing amount of ignorance and general stupidity in society.
I also own a 2024 Chevy Tahoe high country (its the wife's daily driver) and of course it has the 6.2 liter L87 engine that has been in the news about its recall/ bearing failure issues.
I joined a Tahoe / Yukon forum and you wouldn't believe the amount of wrong, misguided, and just plain stupid nonsense those guys type over there.
Perhaps I'm just showing my age and cynicism, but it sure seems to me that the newer or more expense a vehicle gets, the dumber the owners of them tend to be.

TRUTH!! Cold beer, nice rocker camp chair, life is good!
And while you're there, if you haven't been, Palo Duro was a nice side trip when I flew into AMA for pheasant hunting up in Dalhart at my sisters.
