I'm considering adding a 1/4-turn fuel shutoff valve as a theft deterrent. I'm guessing it should go before the fuel pump rather than after, to prevent pressure due to check valve. Does that sound right? Also, there's a fuel filter after pump rather than before. Is that to prevent pressure drop during priming?
I think a battery shut off switch would be better to prevent theft and maybe easier to install..
But your 55 already has an anti-theft device installed: it's the starter button located far away from the ignition key. Furthermore, if your truck transmission is a 3 speed on the column you've got another way to keep young people from driving your truck.
Abe nothing like a crash box four speed to deter theft I’ve left a few people, young and old drive the F-2 not one has been able to get it going without choking it out.
i never lock my doors, the key has never worked. I’d. rather have someone rummage through it than forced the door and break the handle. I’m I’m in a dicey area I’ll pull the coil wire off.
As Abe suggested, rather get a electric kill switch somewhere hidden in your truck than something in your fuel line.
Just bougjht a Ford Model A Roadster and they have a fuel ventile but for other reason and it can be a source of problem.
And correct, my F2 with crashbox transmission would hardly ever get stolen ;-)
Best idea as others have said is the battery kill switch and the fact than no one other that my wife and daughter can drive a manual transmission truck. My daughter has a couple of Mustangs, a 64, a 65 and a 2000 something that have manual trans.
I have always thought the best thing to have is a timed shut off so after a vehicle is started it would die a minute or two after the vehicle is started and moved a very short distance. A thief can take his time bypassing a wire to start a vehicle and pull away but if the vehicle died after it was pulled out of a parking spot a thief isn't going to take the time try to figure out the problem with people around him.

Good point, a hot wire to the ignition is always a first take. That’s why I like the coil or something simulator to an hidden switch. A lot harder to find and who wants to spend a long time messing with a switch? Also, $30 WyZe camera on my WiFi has motion and noise sensors as well as night vision. Side note: left my shop light on, again.
