I recently had my engine rebuilt and it runs great when it’s running. Did have some misfires and stuff at the beginning after rebuild. I think it worked itself out. All new plugs, coil bolts. The coils are still original and worked fine before rebuild. All electrical was sound before pulling motor. It has developed an issue of not starting the next day after leaving the battery hooked up overnight. It cranks fine just wont start. If I reset the computer, it will fire right up. When I first plugged in main harness after rebuild I did accidentally bend some of the pins. I straightened them out and again will crank and run after reset. Any ideas?
So, after more troubleshooting, I have discovered it’s the main (biggest) female connector on the (pcm side). It’s cracked and missing one of the latch anchors and one of the plastic guides in the middle. This explains why I bent pins trying to connect it the first time back after rebuild. The male side will not stay seated in connector. The slightest vibration or move causes a stall, no start, or horrible idle. I figured it out by removing pcm and plugging back up with pcm vertical with stress on connection and wiggling it around.
So, I really need a new connector on the pcm side. I’m betting I’m gonna have to get a different pcm. Then, what about programming? I’d be terrified to ask what it would cost at a dealer.
