Exclamation Sending unit questions

So i recently pulled my sending unit off of my 1987 ford f250 and it was junkkkk. so i went online in search of a new one and i couldnt find the one that was already in it when i searched up the exact specs of my truck. the biggest problem i was having was the end of the sending unit had 4 prongs instead of the 2 i needed. i ended up finding an exact match but it was a diesel sending unit. my truck has a 5.8L 351W in it so it is carbureted and google did say it would work. are there any modifications i need to make in order for it to work properly? it is the exact same sending unit that i pulled out of my truck so im not really worried about it fitting. I made sure it was for the right location and size of tank before i purchased it, but i did read somewhere that i would have to make changes with my fuel gauge. the whole reason i pulled the sending unit out was because the fuel gauge was broke, so now im wondering if the last person who put the sending unit in also got a diesel and didnt mess with the gauges to correct them? maybe im getting ahead of myself and it will be a simple plug in and thats it but i wanna make sure before i do anything.

Lightbulb UPDATE

so ive done a lot of digging and found that the major issue would be my fuel gauge and if it reads differently than the sending unit. luckily enough i picked a sending unit that reads in the same ohms range as my fuel gauge (sending unit is [5-15 empty] and [155-165 full] fuel gauge is [16 empty] and [158 full])so i should be fine when it comes to that. it wont be perfect but its within the range of compatibility. just posting this update in case anyone else has this question!

Be glad you do not have the processor trouble the rest of us have with our fuel injected varieties
Glad you got it sorted out
