Guys I'm trying to replace the clutch linkage kit with a new one from CPP. I think I have everything loose and after some heat and a few ugly words I got the pin removed from the clutch pedal shaft. My issue is now that everything is loose the clutch release shaft will spin although it does have a spot where it gets very hard to turn but I cannot get it to come out. Is there anything I'm missing here? Does it slide out toward the transmission or driver's side? I'm guessing transmission. Attaching a few images for reference
Well cleaned it up and the roll pin came out fairly easy, but that shaft only moved maybe 1/2" beating it. Looks like I'm going to have to drop the gear box off to able to swing a hammer enough to get the shaft out. Wouldn't have thought it be difficult...
Is your cab on? If it is then you need to get the clutch pedal off the shaft.
I normally am pulling these with the cab off. When no cab on the frame, the pedal and shaft slide off to the driver side
edit
that was a dumb question. I can see the cab is still on
you will need to get the clutch pedal arm off the shaft first.
Yes, my cab is on. The roll pin came out fairly easy once I got a punch that fit . At that point figured we would just tap the shaft out. If only it was that easy. We did drop the drive shaft and remove the gear box to give us more room to hammer, but even then we maybe moved it an inch. Went and purchased a air hammer. That got it moving, however the clutch pedal was still attached so we were having to go through both. Ended up using a C clamp on the clutch pedal to hold it in place. Got the bar about 1" from coming out and couldn't reach out any more with the air hammer bit. Ended up having to use the new shaft to push it on through
At that point though it was bound up in the clutch pedal and wouldn't go though. Took a cut off wheel and cut the old shaft next to the clutch pedal and was able to free it that way.
8 hours later and couple trips to harbor freight it's all back together. I'm sure there was an easier way to have done this. Honestly I think if could have gotten that clutch pedal bracket off first that would have made life much easier. Live and learn.
