So, my Xtang Xceed has the dreaded peeling cover and is starting to look like crap. It's also leaking more than it used to. So, I'm considering the possibility of replacing it.
The things I liked about the Xceed:
Security - I liked that the release was a ****, not just pulling on a wire. With the wire release, you can fish a hook in, snag it and open the top
Waterproof - it was very good when I got it. Want something with very high leak resistance
Folding - could fold almost completely out of the way. It blocked the rear window, but it was easy and made room for bigger cargo
Looks - I liked the flush mount, but that's not a big deal
I've poked around and I have not found anything with that grouping of features. Is there a secure option that is highly leak proof and gets almost completely out of the way out there?
Also, anybody know what the covering on the XTang is? I could alternatively consider trying to re-cover it.
But I think any of the tri-fold do what you're talking about.
Mostly true. The one feature that is a difference maker is not having a cable release on the last panel. I've seen videos where a thief can just snake in a bent coat hanger, snag that cable and open your cover. Nothing is impenetrable, but I've got a locking tailgate and I'd like it to be as secure as possible.
I have the soft roll up. I know that it can be cut but anymore if the crook wants to get in he will. Mine just makes honest people honest. Good luck in what ever you choose.

Yep, nothing is impenetrable. We had a police officer meet with our neighborhood to set up a neighborhood watch. His comment: "If someone wants to get into your house specifically, they will. But, 99% of home break-ins are crimes of opportunity. You don't need to be impenetrable, you just need to be less appealing to thieves than the other options around you.". Yes, a bit awkward as we all look around knowing the people sitting next to you are "the other options around you".
Recently installed a Worksport AL4 on my 2025 F-150. Just installed it last week so I don't have a lot of weather experience with it yet. I think it meets all of your requirements. One reason for the choice is that it is supported by rods and does not lay against the cab when in the upright position. Another is that it does not require hoses for draining.
I have a friend who has the xtang on his truck with the peeling issue. He reached out to the company and was told that they have changed the way they apply the vinyl or whatever the top coat is made from. You may consider giving them a call.
I've had a Peragon for 14 years and while I love the durability of the cover, it has always leaked and seems to be getting worse. My other issue with Peragon is they've missed the mark on the new style cover that they've introduced. It is spot on rugged and meant for hard work but you lose too much bed space. With that said, no one else's customer service will compete with theirs.
