AJ-V8 to ZF S5-47?

Has anyone looked at using the AJ-V8 as an alternative to the 460? ...asking bc my 460 is on its last legs and I have a AJ-V8 that's needing a new home (400+hp, 400+ftlbs stock)

If so, has anyone found an adapter that'll take me from the AJ bell housing to the ZF S5 housing?

Oddball combo to consider I know, but when the engine is free...

Thanks!
C

The 5.0? Or one of the smaller ones?

Supercharged 4.2L

We have a wrecked Land Rover with a good engine just sitting down at the shop. 93 F350 probably needs a power plant...

Can you get a standalone ecu for that or did you plan to transplant?

The right generation Land Rover will be BMW electronics, and some generations of those are pretty easy to adapt
(I'm familiar with MS43, but MS45.1 and V70 and V80 are now pretty well opened up)

294 hp at 6,000 rpm with 303 lb⋅ft of torque at 4,100 rpm

Vs

245 Hp @ 4000 rpm400 ft/lb torque @ 2200 rpm

im not saying dont do it. But, if the truck is going to be worked like a 460 truck... you are missing at best 100 lb-ft of torque and the 100 less it does make is at twice the rpm of the 460.
Yeah it make 50 more hp... at 2000 rpm more than the 460...
Would it be a neat swap? Maybe.
Would it be practical? Probably not.

Ah! Good to know! I haven't starting pulling electronics out yet... You have a website or some such that'll help me identify which system I have? Thanks!

your best bet is to find the ECU (DME in BMW- speak) and google the numbers on the sticker.
Different vehicles got different electronics, and the best advise is usually on the vehicle- specific forums.
