Looking at getting rid of the god awful whining in my stock system. I've read some forums about the swaps etc, I don't have 2k to spend on a benchworks kit.
Would switching to a saginaw style pump on the stock ram assist system quiet things down?
Are there ways to get a new geerbox installed without breaking the bank?
I converted my 1970 F250 4x4 manual box to a 1979 F250 4x4 box. Got my mounting kit from Battle Born Brakes, very reasonable and I had sourced my steering box from the junkyard. I am into my conversion for about $300 bucks and I had bought a new 1979 Drag Link.
Do the GM pump swap using a 7.5 van bracket
I believe the above guy said he switched his to Emmanuel (Armstrong) steering and now has no pump
The Saginaw pumps never make noise because they do not have a spring loaded vane and rotor like the Ford C2 pump has
A brand new Ford C2 pump will not make noise either
The 58 dollar remans WILL make noise, usually, but a new Ford one was 480 or so, now I see them on Ebay for cheap for a brand new Ford one
I'd do the van pump swap and just hit a junkyard for the parts including the pressure line, use your original return line and just replace the rubber
Fun stuff

No I switch to the complete 1979 power steering set-up. Box, Lines, cooler and power steering pump. I was lucky enough to have a FE style power Steering pump motor bracket.
