power steering upgrade
Has anyone upgraded anything in their power steering system, i hear the saginaw pumps are good, I was thinking about going with the Lee’s power steering setup, with my 7.3 I am currently experiencing hard steering at low speeds and a whine, tire size is equivalent to 33’s, stock pump is compromised and I would probably be ok with a reman replacement but was looking at upgrades

A complete Lee system regardless of what pump/box combo he recommends will be vastly improved over the oem ford system.
that said a stock pump/box should be sufficient for 33’s if they are functioning correctly which yours is not as indicated by the whine.
Fwiw, the whine is cavitation. Drain and replace the fluid, bleed CORRECTLY,
replace pump if needed.

My hard steering at low speed was cured by a new box (I got a Red Head). I had replaced the belt idler/tensioner and pump then finally the box... Not sure what the Lee upgrade costs, but the Red Head being ~$350ish was well worth the cost. The truck feels like its brand new. The box swap took me about 3 hours...just make sure you've got a good puller and the correct size for the pitman arm to box nut (Was an odd ball size neither me or my neighbor had).
