Question Power steering help!

Anyone know how I can add power steering to my 1964 F100 2wd? Does anyone make a kit? I've found a "power assisted" steering unit from Vintage Ford.com, but not sure how that would work. Also, I want to maintain the stock suspension. Any help would be great. Thanks

No Limit Engineering makes a power rack and pinion setup that bolts onto the existing straight axle. Requires cutting the steering column so it will attach via flex shaft to the r&p. Price is about $700, plus p.s. pump and the steering column mods.

Want to trade?

I have a '64 F-250 with FACTORY power steering. I'm about to pull the power steering system including the pump, the gearbox, hoses, reservoir, and ram. Basically, anything that's unique to the power steering system is coming out. I'm looking for the manual steering setup for mine and don't have any use for the old power steering parts. I'd be willing to work a trade for your manual parts if you're interested so let me know and we'll work something out!

Why would you take a step back in time like that?

LOL.. I'm a big strong Paratrooper. I'd rather lose the clutter under the hood than have the power steering.

Pics of my power steering..up for grabs?

Here's a few pics of my power steering setup. I don't need it but I'd surely like to make a trade for a manual setup!

I would STRONGLY advise replacing the original hoses but they still work along with the rest of the system. I've had NO trouble with it and just want to get rid of it for a cleaner looking manual setup.

No thanks on the trade. Now I've been told that Ford didn't offer factory power steering in 64? Anyone know for sure? If thats the case, can you buy all the parts new?

You can buy a new ram assist system (same or very similar to BooneyRat's) from CPP (Classic Performance Parts) for about $900, plus you'll have to find and buy PS brackets and a PS pump.

P/S was a dealer installed optional accessory on 1958/64 F100/250 2WD's.

The illustration in the 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog (Section 36, page 7) of the dealer installed P/S looks exactly like the P/S on booneyrat75's truck.

Ford did not offer P/S factory or dealer installed on 1965 F100/250's.

None of the P/S parts are available from Ford any longer, but may be available from obsolete parts vendors.

The P/S pump, pulley, brackets and separate P/S reservoir can be found on 1960/62 Galaxies with a 292.

THANKS, RocketMonkey28!!! I just added the nitrous purge kit but I still have to wire in the MSD 6-AL box. If I get time this weekend after I finish with the wiring, the first trip is to go fill the bottle and see what the new build does!
