No, not so whatever. With that being said, anything can be happened but since this does not affect diesels, auto stop start was never a mandate. It was a credit.

I guess I may be a little pessimistic. There has been alot of this information going around about this but nothing concrete. I'll believe it when I see vehicles being produced without the equipment.

This is the expectation we all should have. Very few of these features and technology are going to go away quickly, if at all. Will there be, for a time, no penalty for disabling it? Probably, at least at a federal level. For states that still have emissions checks, they'll probably still be required.

So glad to know all of you want to return to the air quality of the 60's, 70's and 80's.
Just imagine all our cities covered with glorious smog, just what they all want!

The rest of the world isn't going to change its standards. Granted, the USA is the by far the largest market for SD diesel trucks and will drive what Ford does, but I can't see Ford changing much over the next 3 years (or less). Personally, I like sticking my face in the exhaust and not smelling anything. Other than that light headed feeling I get, of course.

No matter the near result or future
the dpf and def followed by egr is a software fix
Then a piece of pipe
easy
And even if its approved now..
Future would not... in a reasonable world hold folks to account if rules changed after the removal.
But I wBut not want smog of belching wasted fuel smoke
I do know the same sd in bahrain...has no egr, no dpf and no def.. they dont belch smoke
same for Saudi Arabia

Here we go again, the drooling over deleting their diesels. The only thing that is currently true is that the DOJ will not be going after those doing deletes or providing tunes, but it is still ILLEGAL to modify an emissions system. BUT! Don't think they aren't taking down names and places doing it. They are still going to make that list, and when the next green whacko President takes office, those laws will be enforced with a passion. The Clean Air Act forced manufacturers to install emissions control systems on light and medium duty Diesels, but not Heavy Duty Diesels. The 2009 EO that Trump just quashed forced Heavy Duty trucks to require DPF and DEF. It anything, Manufacturers of Heavy Duty trucks and Equipment won't be required to install them on new vehicles, but does not allow currently installed devices to be removed because, according to the Clean Air Act, it is illegal to remove or alter emissions systems. Once installed, it MUST remain! Thats the law passed by Congress and only Congress can overturn that law.

ONLY Congress can make it legal to remove currently installed emissions systems, and that is NOT going to happen.

Is that similar to the landfills being filled up with plastic grocery bags that the liberals in the 1970's forced us to use instead of paper bags, to "save the trees"?

No, it is not. I remember smog in the 70's and we have a lot more vehicles than we did then. Just imagine all the pollution from those modified vehicles. If you don't think it is that bad then just sit several feet away from a running revved up a couple of times stock diesel and then repeat that with a deleted diesel for 15 minutes each and tell me that everything is just fine they are the same.

Yes, because the US has a big bubble over it that stops the pollution from the rest of the world from affecting us.

You are fear mongering and blowing it way out of proportion for the shock and awe factor. Just stop.
Back in the 70's, it was all cars, trucks, semi's, construction equipment, factories and businesses contributing to "smog" in densely populated cities.
Factories and businesses have cleaned up (or shut down and moved to China).
Gasoline cars and trucks are extremely clean
Construction equipment just isn't numerous enough to make a difference.
And the modern diesel engine, even current deleted diesels with a proper tune, are much cleaner than the diesels of the 60/70/80's.

I'm sick of the USA citizen being forced to virtue signal to the rest of the world with expensive and unreliable emissions. China and India pollute more than the rest of the world combined.

Luckily since they all seem to remember 1970s smog with such clarity and first hand authority, they won't be voting for much longer.

All these "I remember those terrible 70s" resident EPA/CARB historians seem to forget the diesels of late 90s like the 7.3 PSD and 12v 5.9 Cummins weren't exactly chimneys either.

People like him probably can't wait to ditch their diesels and buy a hybrid SD so he can show it off at his local farmer's market "show and tell" hour every Sunday morning.
