2150 spacers?

I have a 77 f250, 400 engine, no emissions, with the original intake manifold that has the hole for EGR. (Pictures from eBay but it’s the same type of manifold)

When I bought the truck It had a 2100 carburetor and the hollow spacer pictured below. When the carb went out, I decided to go with a 2150 instead of a 2100. I got the gasket pictured below and reused the spacer. I could not for the life of me get the new carb to idle, I eventually found out it was a large vacuum leak at the base, due to the spacer not being the same shape as the correct gasket. It was sucking in air from the back . I can’t run it without a spacer due to the choke heat tube, it won’t fit unless there’s a spacer there. Anyone know where I can find a solid spacer that will fit a 2150 and is the right shape for the gasket? Or any other ideas and potential fixes? Thank you very much

Ford had them at one time. They first tried aluminum and it would burn out, so it was replaced with iron. They used them on F-150's.

If you were not using that hot exhaust port portion, even wood will work. If using aluminum, same thing, and either way a thin sheet of stainless steel would make a great shield between them. That one pictured on a green table top is aluminum with just a vacuum port like for PCV, if it were used on that intake above it, first thing to burn out would be the gasket, followed in time by the aluminum exposed to that exhaust.

Yes I’m trying to cover that exhaust port without the heat of it burning through a gasket. Should I just cover the port with a small piece of thin ( around 22 ga) sheet steel and put the gasket and solid spacer?

Stainless steel will likely be a longer lasting fix, and I was meaning a full piece, like a full gasket would be. If me, I'd include a gasket, and I always grease my intake gaskets, both sides.

Might still burn the gasket, but the thin shield of SS would protect what is above.

I used something similar to this for my 351m with 4bbl intake to help with the heat soaking. Worked like a charm. No more hard starts.

You need the original CARB SPACER w/ an EGR port or buy/fashion a 2V iron block-off plate to use under the carb.

A regular 2V alum spacer (pre-EGR) will not work.

Now the ALUM EGR SPACERS burnt though (hi-heat) and were later replaced later by cast iron. There was once upon a time a cast iron spacer (aftermarket) w/o the EGR port that allowed easy EGR deletion. That or put an iron/steel block-off cap between the EGR VALVE and EGR SPACER or just a fabricate an iron/steel block-off cap and delete the valve.

A steel shim block-off will most likely burn through.

GIGGLE - D8AZ 9A589-B or D8AZ 9A589-C (RPL) and you should find a NOS.
