I want to be sure I get the correct gasket. Here are pics of my carb. On the bottom there are 2 small holes. The gasket I have has hole in it but it doesn't line up with anything. Does the gasket need those 2 holes or is it supposed to be solid? No corresponding holes on the intake.
I am ordering 6 as it looks like they need to be stacked as a spacer on my 223.
Yes, Ford documents 6 being used. The holes you are discussing on the carburetor base don't have anywhere to go on the manifold, so I wouldn't think that it really matters in this application.
Just put new gaskets on my 55 carb. No holes same as you are gonna use.
As a side note. Mine hade seven gaskets. I replaced mine with three gaskets and two pieces of 1/8” phenolic that I cut to match gaskets. I would say this gave me the equivalent of 8-9 gaskets. This was about as high as I could go with the carb studs. So far, so good.
