Mine measures 1 1/4” at the side between the bed and cab, and 1 3/8” at the center of the bed with the cab.
The stock bed is curved some so it is spaced to accommodate the flex. With your bed being completely straight, I would think you could be a little closer without risk of them contacting each other.

ooooooooh need a build thread, stat! Also assume you're gonna push the rear axle back a bit to line up with the bed wheel well?
It's getting really close to lined up with the bed gap tight.
The military trailer had a lip rolled forward, which I cut off and recreated with tubing on the inside. I think I will be with in 1/2", might just use a relocation plate https://cpaddict.com/products/sky-ma...s-ford-arp-001 to fine tune it.
