Looks like you have them, if that is your truck. They polish well, the arms were just anodized stiff aluminum, the bases chromed steel, the housings stainless steel, and the mirror glass if needed, is just set in rubber that is then pressed into the housing lip. I did it (after one of my originals broke after being dropped) with glass face down, rubber around it, then used a small screw driver to push in on the rubber while applying a little pressure on the housing pushing it down on the rubber. Was no glue originally, I put new glass in same way. I used a little Ru Glyde rubber lube. I ordered both to eliminate years of ice scraper scratches, etc ...... then applied a small round spot in the lower outer corner. Mirror Glass Plus

X2 repops if you want nice or better. If you buy cheap repops, that is what you will get. If you spend some $ on quality repops you can get a decent repop set. They are called (swing lock-top mounted-low profile) type 9's. And most repop mirror heads are 5 1/4 x 8 1/4. Sometime you can find the bigger 6x9 mirror head.

I'm after originals. I purchased a pair from Classic Industies for another truck I plan to build. They looked "somewhat similar", but did not lock in place and the pivot points are reversed compaired to originals. Can you elaborate on your 'spend more money'? Not sure where to look? Not saying money is no object, I'm not afraid to spend money if the parts are correct and in mint, or REALLY good, condition.

Was a short lived delima here too, so after studying on it, I decided best just use the polishing wheel on the Shop Smith spindle after disassembly and cleaning. I even sanded / polished the chrome steel bases, then clear coated them. Made new base to door gaskets, my doors were new and while stored awaiting over 20+ years, I had installed steel strips with nuts welded on inside the doors, to spread loads.

I have a pair that are pretty decent, but would love to find a MINT pair. I know that comes with a cost, which I can live with as long as I get what I pay for. It's for the 78 CC I've been working on for many many years. Have'nt cut any corners, and don't plan too.....

Sorry I sold my last spare pair of type 9's I had in the parts shed. Here is the part # and I am sure these on hand #'s are very old, but worth a call anyway. Maybe they can run the # in their system and see if any one else has one or two.
