Its fine but its got a few miles on it. Only 15w40 and only motorcraft/racor oil filters.. Why, though do you have the pump out but the pump cover reinstalled?

There are other oils that work just fine.

5W40 works just fine, and even 0W40 does also (it is needed in the extreme North regions). They are both 40 wt oils. Some people seem to have done well on some 30 wt oils, but they are not for me.................

I can’t imagine. We’ve had a few lows in the 9 to 10 range, and we’ll be down about that by the end of next week again. Maybe I’ll get to see what my truck sounds like starting in that temperature. I have a feeling I should’ve put the block heater cord back in, lol.

This picture doesn’t do justice to what it’s doing out there right now.

I am soooo bummed that I can't spend my winter months down in TX or AZ or heck......just travelling the "Warm Belt" for 6 months

From what I've read and seen, there's a ton of awesome truck camper friendly beaches/sand bars between Corpus Christi and Panama City Beach and I'd even like to drive the whole coast of Florida. One day I hope

If its super cold where you live then 5w40 definitely would be better.. 15w40 is good down to about 20 in the 6.0l.... Above 20 degrees 5w40 was never recommended by International. However, for whatever reason you will find one place where it was recommend above 20 degrees and thats int he 2009 E-van owners manual when a van has a 6.0l.. 5w40 may be just fine in some climates of course..... Over the last 26 years of working on diesels In the south I've had a dozen or so customer come in with 6.0l valve train and engine noises that loved there truck and where running 5w40.. Switching them to 15w40 got rid of the noise..Of course to each there own. My customers that refuse to listen to me I end up making way more money on them....

LOL. I have 250k miles on 5W40 in S. Texas - original injectors, original valve train. This is an old topic and has been resolved. It does not need to be brought up again. 40 weight is 40 weight at all suggested operating temperatures. Lots and lots of analyses .... science, not myth. Lots of others running around on 5W40 w/ similar history.

So many stiction problems from 20 degree-ish weather and 15W40.

We know all about this (it is Ford's most up-to-date 6.0L publication, if good for one 6.0L, then it is good for all).
