2008 Ranger 4x4 5 speed 135k miles. Lately it's been Getting hard to get into first. It doesn't grind and letting the clutch out and trying again makes no difference. Other than that the trans works fine and the clutch was replaced 40k ago. Any ideas what is going on ?

 

I had a similar porblem with my M5OD after changing transmission fluid to Valvoline Mercon V. I ended up draining it and switching to Pennzoil Synchromesh, which fixed the problem You might try just changing fluids, maybe yours is old or contaminated, or just low. Don't use Valvoline though.

 

As far as I know it's never been changed so I will try that.

 

Took it a while to work in but it shifts good now. I used the Pennzoil.
