Texas July Floods

Hello everyone! Been a long time.
The July floods put my entire property in 4-6’ of raging water. The ol’ truck washed against a tree and was saved from washing downstream. I had to have a vehicle, so the 7.3 and my tractor were top of the list chores to take care of. If there was the ability for mud, sand, and water to get in somewhere, it did…
After a few days labor and ordering some parts both were back running and put to work.
This truck has been a absolute workhorse over the years and refuses to be taken out.😂
38r and old school gearhead tuning
Hope everyone is well!! Got up to right under the steering column

Still needs to be cleaned better, but I’ve put a few thousand miles on it and it’s running strong.

that was a lot of work,
I am on top of a granite hill, and water flows off down to a drainage ditch

Looking to the north, is an uphill incline

Looking to the west is drains off to the southwest

Looking to the South, it goes down at about 5 degrees or more

this is directly to the West, looking from our house attached garage,
right after a big rain that had rivers flowing over our property from the North.
that gravel pad cost me a lot of bux.....
Skid steer scraped off the clumps,
then they sprayed a tar mix,
then spread the gravel...
love it, no more mud...

When mother nature gets angry all you can do is get out of the way and then clean up the mess afterwards. Great job!

moved all the vehicles out away from the trees, we were told we might get 2 inches of ICE...
and when that ahppens, our very old oak trees drop limbs.

Honestly, I barely remember everything I did. The first 3 weeks or so is a blur. I took a water trough and cleaned it up, then filled it maybe a quarter way with clean water. I then literally took every part I removed and gave it a vigorous bath in clean water, then tossed it on plywood in the Texas sun to dry. Electronics included. Certain things, like the turbo and such, I dipped in used ATF after a quick yet thorough drying. After water was evacuated from the cylinders, they got a drink of ATF as well. I actually had another 38r in the shop that was above the water line, so I put that one back on. Honestly though, the one that went in the drink seems absolutely fine. Radiator, intercooler, and all had to come out as they were completely packed with mud. Trans, transfer case, front differential, were full of water.. had to be drained and fluids replaced. Exhaust pipe packed with mud. Door panels packed with mud. I could go on and on. So I guess the short answer was.. no. No major items replaced. Even though I threw a new turbo on it, I probably didn’t have to. Only electrical issues I’ve had is the alternator is pissy and is cutting in and out, I plan to drop it off for a rebuild when time permits. Or it goes completely out and forces me to. lol.
The shop stood firm. (I built it) 😂
The house was considered a loss.
I have vehicles, boats, tractors, farm implements, antiques, windmill, tools, and a bunch of crap I didn’t need anyway scattered across acres.
But we are alive and some of my neighbors cannot say the same. I feel extremely blessed.

kwikkordead..
I remember that name! Been a long time
