If you go to ford.co and build your vehicle and have it sent to a participating dealership what is the process? I mean I have my own expectations but what is the reality, realities of doing this?
Has anybody already tried this? Do the dealers typically try and sell you their on hand inventory?? The pricing looks really good versus what I see at my two local dealerships.
Thanks!
You can’t build a truck and order it online. That’s Tesla. You must go to a dealership and place the order through them. It’s best to go through the guide and know what you want before hand, print it off and take it with you. This is also why you want to shop around at different dealerships. Some will give you better discounts than others. Take Granger for example... they have always offered good discounts when ordering but other dealerships are likely doing the same now also.
Alternatively, you can walk onto any lot and buy from them. IMO, you’re better off ordering what you want rather than settling for what’s in the lot.

when you are done building the url can be copied and sent to the dealer and they can access it there.
No matter what, double check the order confirmation RIGHT AFTER the dealership rep submits it and make sure it is correct. Sometimes there are confusions and the order may have errors and it is up to you to verify and ask for correction if something doesn't look right.
I would also say to really pay attention to it once you get a VIN assigned too… when my VIN was assigned the color got changed. Since I caught it immediately they were able to get it corrected, but once a VIN gets assigned corrections are very hard to get made. They had to go to a regional manager to get mine done.
I saw that once you built, configured it that you can't add it to a cart then buy. I saw this.
The suggestion to print out the build sheet and shop around is great. The dealer closest to me is not that good nor that busy. The one a few towns over is where I got my current ride and I would prefer to go back there.
I might look to see if there are any 2025 models this weekend still unsold.

I just recently got my vin and have been trying to decode it to make sure, but can't figure out if everything is right.
