I know Ford dealers have an in-house database finder system which lists inventory units in a respective zip code area. WHY doesn't Ford offer this service on the web to you or I? What harm would the auto makers incur if this data was publically listed? I know Ford's web site has a finder aspect to it but it's too indirect and is a hassle searching. I'm looking for a specific 09' F-150 model/configuration. If I go to a Ford dealer they'll try to locate a similar truck within a certain distance but will NOT tell me where this truck is located, if one is found, for obvious reasons. Let we the consumer find and deal with the respective dealer ON OUR OWN. There is a Jeep, “we’ll find it for you,” website (that’s not affiliated with Jeep) which is free. It locates a specific new Jeep (that you choose) throughout the US. I don’t know why someone hasn’t come up with a similar site for non-Jeep buyers?
it is what it is.. keep turning over the rocks, I have been searching for about a week and I think I know all the dealers inventory in a 100 mile radius..

That's a very good point. It seems that Ford wants us to search dealer inventory for something close. I have a buddy in San Diego that wanted a very specific Hyundai Santa Fe. He called an auto broker who located his exact desires at a dealer in LA. A broker have may access to some info that WE do not.
Did you consider ordering what you want? I believe it's a reg cab short body, 4x4? I read your posts.
No, a 4WD extended cab or as Ford calls it, supercab. It's an unusual set up so I'd assume there aren't too many of these produced each year. Which will make it harder to find.

Thats right, I remember now, Scab 4x4 short body. There's an '08 like that on my route and it's pretty darned sporty looking. Looks like it would handle real well too.
