Anyone running this? I'm curious how involved the installation is. I'd love to get rid of the filter under the hood and also make it easier to change the one under the truck. This system seems to check both boxes. I can't hyperlink it for some reason......
For a 250, 350 LB or SB it should be very easy. I run the system on my 450 and it was a bit of a chore.
I run the:
- Donaldson P551311 Fuel Filter
- Donaldson P551000 Fuel Filter, 9.92" Water Separator Type
- Donaldson Bowl - P569758
- This replaces the black drain cap on the Water Separator Filter.
- Now you can see if there is any water in the Fuel / Filter
I have a 450 as well. So you run that SPE system with those filters? I can never find things with the search function on this site but I'll look for your pictures.

The SPE system uses a 1-14 post on their filter heads. 1-14 is VERY common fuel filter post. Lot of options for filters beyond Cat. Don't get me wrong, cat filters are great and all but Donaldson, Baldwin, Fleetguard, etc all make good cross references for them as well.

CAT sold me on their fuel filters with their anti-rust campaign. I've seen a bunch of other brands fuel filters with rust on them and in them. For lube oil I think they all give each other a run for their money depending on application.
I'm probably going to order a kit. Problem is I have a Banks DPF back exhaust, hot and cold intercooler pipes and an upper radiator hose all from S&B to install still. Hoping to get some of it knocked out tomorrow (Sunday) since it's suppose to be 70 here!

are you sure about the 1-14 internal thread on the spe cat head
@tugboatjim
I don't think we are all on the same page here. Are you talking about the filter nipple adapter? So the 1-14 is the side that the filter screws onto and you are wanting to know the inside portion of the nipple that screws into the housing? Also I saw your post in the other thread in the 6.7L diesel section. That thread pertains to the oil filter housing adapter. This thread pertains to the fuel filter replacement system that mounts under the truck near the fuel tank.
If you are still wondering what the internal threads (housing side of the nipple) are on this SPE fuel system they are 1-16. I was wondering so I took mine off. As I said in the other thread you aren't going to do much better on filters than what they offer. I think Baldwin and Donaldson both have some offerings that could edge out the CAT stuff but neither of them have the Nylon center tube which eliminates the possibility of adding rust to your system. I wish SPE had made their Fuel filter housing base just a little bit larger then we could have run a different UHE (possibly the only one CAT offers) fuel filter and water separator. I don't recall the threads right now, maybe 1-3/8 - 12? But the diameter is too large anyway so again the system as designed is about as good as you're going to get for filters.

The 416-1225 UHE fuel filter will fit, spe even markets it on their site.
