I serviced my 2022 F250 transfer case today. The fill plug was tight. The drain plug barely snug. 88k miles, when I bought it at 64k miles I did not see in the service records that the transfer case had been serviced but it must have been because I doubt it left the factory that way.
Well, I can tell you for example with an aluminum case, it is easy to over tighten. Example ,my Polaris buggies differentials, transmissions etc, the torque is like 6 to 8 lb, You want a crank on an aluminum case, go for it. The next time you pull that plug out the threads will be in it.
Does anybody know what the torque rating is for the transfer case?
its pipe taper thread. if you got all stupid with the ratchet you can screw up the threads or worse. should of used small bit of thread tape and just snugged it up

I put Teflon tape on mine when I changed the fluid 30k miles ago and I didn't torque them but just snugged and they don't leak.
