Krown is the way I went.
2013 has zero rust. I have it sprayed once a year before the first salt application.

Was a report recently on how well the aluminum bodies are holding up in the rust belt. No reason for undercoating IMO. As for the rust, there appears to be many “rust converters” on the market. I would research those. I used Rustoleum rust converter spray paint on a section of the gate on my dump trailer and it appears to be doing OK after about 3 months being stored outside. Wire brushed by hand before I applied it.

Personally, I am more worried about the frame than the body.
I am interested in hearing what has been working for people, and if anyone has any tips of what to look for or what to avoid.

POR15 works great but is pricey. On the plus side, it only takes one application and you're set. I've used it on air cooled VW floor boards.

I have been using Waxoyl - professionally applied and then touched up every year. I used it on 2 RAMs and now the Ford. The first RAM is now 10 years old and owned by my son. Looks new underneath. My son has done the touch-up himself the 5 years he's owned it.

Why worry about surface rust? Look at how many old trucks are surviving just fine. Your differential is never going to rust through . . . . . a frame would take decades. Your truck will be well worn out before rust is ever a factor.

A few weeks ago I treated the inside of the rear bumper on my truck with POR-15. It had developed some surface rust. I won't have any worries about it again.

I would rather do a once and done treatment. But it's more time consuming to go the POR-15 route. I use Woolwax on my wife's car. It's pretty quick to do that, relative to the time POR-15 takes.

Another vote for Krown if you have one in your region. That stuff is great.
Every year when I get my truck sprayed I buy a case of Krown aerosol and use it for spot treatment on trailers & equipment & stuff.

Lots of off roaders use this stuff. if you’ve ever purchased military surplus, firearms, packed in cosmoline you know how well it works as a preservative.

Wow! Lots of options. It looks like based on my location in the city, i may end up, tackling this undercoating myself. Now, how would I go about removing the existing surface rust on like I mentioned earlier differential cover I cannot reach the top portion of it, and I can only wire brush so much but in between the nooks like cooling fins etc.. should i just spray on top?

If it's surface rust on the axle, I suspect that the vast majority of responses will be to coat it and move on. A good penetrating treatment will work its way in. If you're going to paint it, that's a different matter.

you obviously don't live where they use so much salt on the roads it looks like kitty litter. The 2004-2008 f150s the frames dissolved quickly here in the rust belt. I understand the OP concerns. There's always fluid film
