Transport

I know this question gets asked periodically but the players frequently change.

I need to get my Camaro which is being painted from Pittsburgh to western MA in the spring and these guys can get booked up.

Any recent experience with reliable reasonably priced transporters. I prefer not to go through a broker. I have done it in the past and it was a very choppy experience including a driver canceling at the last minute. A reliable independent would be better.

Thanks!

I'm not sure if you can use both words in the same sentence (reliable and reasonable)

Are you looking for open or enclosed transport?

TRUE! Pick 2 of the three

Reliable
Reasonable
Capable

If it is fully painted and the T-tops are mounted and windows installed then I can go open. However, it has been there for 7 years and I am giving him an ultimatum that I am taking it in April whether it is done or not. At this point I am expecting the best I can do is get it fully in primer with the panels aligned. That means the t-tops and windows will not be installed and I will need to go with an enclosed trailer.

It is fully drivable and if it were the middle of the summer and I knew I had 2 days of warm perfect weather I would dive it back without windows and t-tops. But that is not going to be an option if I want to drive it this summer.

I have a guy local that says he will finish it up in about a month and he is known to keep his word.

Long answer to a short question, most likely covered. If I need to commit now I will commit to covered as it certainly is safer with fresh paint should he actually get it done.

I have used Intercity no complaints. Enclosed trailers only. It's a Mass. Base company. Not the cheapest but one of the best.

Did you ask your local guy (finisher) if he has any recommendations?

I had a car transported earlier this year from Orlando to Long Island (NY). They did a great job for a reasonable fee, but I don’t know if they cover that area. They communicated well at both ends. Don’t know if that’s the norm or exception for the company. I’d use again. Good luck!

I asked him and he didn't have any recommendations.

I checked with Reliable so far and they only offer a 4 week window to pick up meaning they can't promise you when they will come in any shorter time period than sometime in a 4 week window at the last minute.

I am staring to call some of the other recommendations this week and next.

I have scheduled with Bear Transport. They seem to get very good reviews and could meet a 2 day window. They are a broker which hopefully is not an issue. The bigger owner operators could only give me windows ranging from 1-4 weeks.

February 24 or 25th my Camaro gets picked up after 7 years waiting to get painted. It is coming back unpainted in primer and a local guy is going to finish it.

It's too bad, but I went 2 weeks ago to Pittsburgh and worked on it myself for 3 days to the point where it is basically ready to pull off the panels and cut in the paint on the doors and back of the panels. Then it needs to be re assembled, final blocked, painted and then the clear sanded and buffed. The body guy says he has 2-3 weeks worth of work left to do that and doesn't have the time to put in to get it done before the summer or even by next year. It is only him and 1 other guy and they have too many standard body shop jobs to do.

Hopefully my local guy can get it done for summer. He says he can.
