Just installed the battleborn hydroboost upgrade into my 77 f150.
First off I love it. Brake pedal is firm and I can stop on a dime.
Looking to clean up the engine bay a bit and my return line has a small leak. Ive got the saginaw pump from wild horses. Has anyone added an extra port into the pump? I thought getting rid of the T would clean it up and reduce the potential leaks
Yes, I added a port to my Saginaw reservoir when I installed hydroboost. The T fitting that came with the hydroboost unit was causing back pressure. Installing an independent return line fixed the problem. The link below shows my fix, and someone else's.

Or, you can swap in a Sag. pump designed to be in a HB system, one with two return inlets. I used one off a 76 LTD with a 460 in it.
But then you'd have to swap over the pulley. Or, use only the reservoir from one of these on your pump. I think the most commonly used unit is off a 70's Econoline Van. Good luck. Can't help but wonder if the volume the pump is moving is not greater on the units designed to be used for HB. Maybe they simply swapped the reservoir?
After looking at the photo of your p/s unit, it looks much nicer than the oem ones I posted. I think you should definately use your unit. Your truck looks super good, btw. Good luck.

Ended up doing this. Didnt want to take the whole pump apart but figured I really should just do it once. The truck is parked for the winter anyways lol gives me a project
While I was at it I changed out all the hoses with 6an fittings and added an oil cooler to the system instead of the loop. Just cleaned it all up and now I have threaded fittings that wont leak instead of barbed fittings
Ill attach a photo of the cooler and hoses later this week when I am totally finished
What cooler are you going to install? Do post up some pics when you do that. I too am thinking of installing a cooler.
Wasn't looking forward to it but it was kinda fun. I ripped the truck apart to learn how everything worked. appeased that feeling again here haha
Here is some pictures of the cooler installed. didn't exactly work how I wanted to but still pretty happy. I did realize after the fact the 6AN hose might be a bit smaller than the original return hose but here's to hoping it'll be fine.
Last step is to bleed the brakes a power steering pump. Done that a handful of times don't care to do it again haha
Very tidy looking cooler install. You've got the whole engine bay looking great!
What's the part number on that master cylinder? Do you have disc front / drum rear brakes? I'm thinking about installing a more modern master cylinder like yours.

It came with the battleborn kit. Honestly I don't see any part numbers on it. I was hoping because one day it'll fail and id love to have it fixable.
I have disks front and drum rear. All stock parts. I redid the whole brake system last year with new parts and new stainless lines. Thought it would make me feel better about the braking but not much more
Im coming back after the whole system is bled, (power steering and brake) I took it for a test run and hot damn I am incredibly happy with my braking now. No concerns at all and I have great confidence. Would highly recommend the kit
