I think what’s bugging me more than anything is the wet sanding halos I inadvertently put on that driver door. Had I not done that, I’d just fix the mirror holes on the doors and call it a day.
Also, those chrome coyote plates are now gone. They were temporary, and the holes will be mig welded shut, that area straightened out, and repainted.
I get it.
I'm sure the right body/paint man could make those disappear without having to redo the entire truck.
Too bad you don't live here, I have a friend that is amazing and is more than capable of doing show quality work.
Rusted lower radiator support panels are quite common, and I'm surprised FOMOCO didn't galvanise the lower section well before the 'dentsides' as it appears to trap water and rust from the inside.
I've been knocked back on registration inspections (yearly here in the state of New South Wales Australia, yet only when selling in state of Queensland, Victoria and Soth Australia) with minor rust bubbles in the center of lower support as its deemed structural which it certainly is.
Nice looking repair.
Luckily here in most of Australia, snow is rare and salt to the best of my knowledge is not use so our chassis stay relatively rust free.
My '77 morphed from nice to partial patina from 1989 when it left the paint shop until 2021/22 when it went back in and then came out again, all the partial patina made noises as wind whistled the holes through, felt cold at times for same reason, and it was bad enough part of the years that I figured hand washing it could lead to lock jaw so I didn't. It never laid down though it was pretty patinaed.
If mine had fewer rust throughs, like youirs does, I'd have kept using it as it was.
