1989 E150 Wheel Size Question

My van has 235/75/15 on them right now. Found a good deal on winter tires and rims for $100 but they are 225/75/16. Wondering if these will be on on the van

That should work if the offset is comparable. The bolt pattern is pretty much truck only so unless you got them off a dually - and I don't know of a 5 lug dually, there shouldn't be interference with the frame or suspension.

Thanks for quick response. I’m not familiar with offset at all to be honest. Will it say on the rim or tire?

There might be a cryptic indication of offset on the wheel. Post any markings found on the back side of the wheel near the hub. It might be easier to determine by what vehicle came with those wheels originally.

You can check offset yourself. Put a wheel face down on the ground, set a level across the wheel, measure from the level to the mounting surface of the wheel. Compare this number with the same measurement on your van. Ideally it’s within a half inch but there might be room for more offset since you’re switching to a narrower tire.

Offset affects a couple of things: whether the wheel contacts the frame and suspension, and bending load on axles and wheel bearings. Changing track affects handling, etc.

Are you sure they fit your van? I see multiple 5X1-- sizes but not your van's 5X5.5" which is about 5X140mm.

Someone smarter than me might be able to decipher an offset code in those markings. The only thing I see that's not fitment, size or weight rating is SH32 which could be an offset but I don't know what it means in terms to compare with the offset of the factory(?) wheels on your van.

Google says a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport has a 5X4.5" or 5X114.3mm wheel bolt pattern. Unless the wheel supports multiple bolt patterns including 5X5.5", it won't fit your van.
