Phone Call Issues

Good day. I just started having an issue with my call quality in my 2016 F150. When connected by Bluetooth, the person on the other end of the call can hear me perfectly. But I can barely hear them. It sounds like they are a million miles away and sounds very faint. All other radio functions and music streaming functions work perfectly. I did a master reset of the sync and rebooted my phone. I deleted the phone from the sync and reinstalled. And I believe my battery is good since it's only a year old. I did a search and think I might be looking at an APIM issue, but could not find anything that is quite the same as my symptoms. I have an 8inch touchscreen with nav and android auto. All functions work perfectly, except the call volume on my end. And I know it's not my phone since it works perfectly in my car. Does anyone feel this is an APIM? I don't want to drop a few hundred on it in case it's something else. Thank for any help.

Did you try turning up the volume on your phone?

While in a phone call, have you tried turning up the volume on the radio. It’s a different level/control within the head unit.

Have you checked that your phone has updated software? Sometimes some of the iPhone updates act goofy, next patch fixes it.

Sounds like a bluetooth connection issue. Your phone has several different types of bluetooth connection settings, one of them is optimized for use in automotive sound systems and the other settings are for other types of equipment such as the E-bike computer on my mountain bike. I discovered this with hours of research about my inability to connect my phone app to the bike. I had to enter the developer mode on the phone (android) and change from Map 1.2 which is the optimal setting for cars etc and switch to Map 1.4 for the bike. With that setting change, the app connected to the bike in an instant. But now it sounded terrible in the truck like you are describing. I decided the truck setting was more important to me and set it back to Map 1.2. I no longer use my phone app for the bike as I am too lazy to adjust my bluetooth settings all the time.

I have tried all the suggestions. My phone works perfectly in the car. Hooked up my wife's phone to the truck and it still sounds very faint. On thing I noticed today is that when raising the volume on a call, there is usually a circle on the screen showing the number that the volume is at. Now that circle and volume number are gone and it's changing the Bluetooth volume on the phone. Im 100% convinced it's a problem with the truck. Just need to figure out what exactly that problem is. Thank you all the replies.
