Is there any trick to adjusting the cowl vent throw when putting the bolt back in the arm? The passenger side of the truck comes down pretty nicely and fits somewhat acceptably flat. I know the new gasket's in there and pushing it up, I can push that down with some weight on it later on. But on the driver's side, I can't get that to come all the way down as far as the passenger. It seems like the lever is hitting the top of the cowl before it gets to the last notch.
I am also considering the possibility that over the years. Maybe that vent got twisted or bent, and it is what it is I figured I would post up and glean some knowledge from those that may know. Bottom line is the driver side does not sit at the same level of the passenger side Sorry in advance for not having a picture of it. I am not home at the moment.

Does it sit flat without anything connected to the vent?
Does the vent itself pivot freely or is it possible one side is binding due to rust or other issues. I would take a close look at those pivot points and verify everything is free and smooth.
And, even if it looks free and smooth lubricate the points with a good rust penetrator any way and move the vent up and down about 50x. Not WD40
The vent on my 55 has never been damaged or rusted and it binds more on one side than the other. I have tried penetrating oil with no success.
I think they just compressed one rivet tighter on one side than the other.
