Intercooler - Aftermarket
Dust socks IMO would probably reduce flow some but again IMO, keep the bigger particles off the filter and provide some water repellecy.
Speaking of quality components and SPE.
Has anyone seen SPE's video on branching out to Ram and GM?
SPE released a video on their new prototype Ford 6.7 CAI kit.
Package looks great... the air filter they indicate can be Dry or Oiled.
I asked what their efficiency rating: ISO5011 rating, hadn't heard anything back.
I liked the quality of build for the Banks CAI, Nice design, fits & looks great and installed last year.
Watched 2 new YouTubes on Air Filter... Speed Lake and Freedom Worx
I've since learned that Banks Monster Filter ... is only 98% efficiency by the ISO5011 tests.
I couldn't find the Banks ISO5011 so I called them... they provided over the phone it was 98%.
That is actually concerning, that's on the poor quality side... allows a lot of dirt to enter engine.
Stock Ford OEM Air filter is 99.21%, S&B Dry 99.54 / wet 99.42%.
Difference between 98 and 99 is a huge difference, between Stock 99.2 and S&B 99.5 significantly less dirt than stock.

I have the S&B filter on my truck. After seing that video, I had a dry filter that I put back on. Have been using the pre-filter with both that dry, that I used when I removed one of my oiled filters for cleaning (now know better after watching that video), and the two oiled I have.
According to S&B, the factory paper is 99.81%. The oiled is 99.26% and the dry is 99.66%. I am going to stick with the dry filter now and run it for more miles that have yet to be determined... I also closed the side firewall port in the box with the silicone plug they provide and did a 3 hour reset of the PCM like they recommend when first installing the system after I switched out to the dry filter.

I'd agree... the videos were eye opening. Least you have the S&B vs the Banks @ 98%
Update, Freedom Worx added a comment yesterday to my post... Banks reached out to him and they plan to post their filter specs now on the site.
Guess they didn't like the bad press Freedom Worx provided. I'm curious to see what they now Post vs what the Tech "read" to me on phone.
On the efficiency rating... there's some confusion even on S&B site:
Using the ISO5011 Links at the bottom of the advertised CAI.
Using their own ISO5011 Reports on the 6.7 Enclosed CAI filters and the Open Filter...
Closed CAI Unit: Shows Stock @ 99.21%, S&B Wet @ 99.42 and Dry @ 99.54%
Open Filter unit: Stock @ 99.21%, Wet @ 99.19, and Dry 99.90
Efficiency Ratings at the bottom of each page:
Top is new CAI enclosed, bottom is Open CAI.
