Thanks for comments… was hoping as an SPE IC Owner you add a few comments.
The Cold Air Temp you monitor, is that an added temp probe or the CAC temp available from ECM monitors (iDash, etc). That is very good temp! YES, THE OEM TEMP SENSOR MONITORED ON THE COLD SIDE PIPE USING iDASH
Do you notice the Boost, if different at same speeds? SPE mentioned it’d has more boost due to better flow and lower pressure differential drop. I DONT REMEMBER SINCE IT HAS BEEN SO LONG AND THE SEAT OF MY PANTS ISNT VERY SENSITIVE ANYWAY LOL
Even though your deleted, can you tell if you get more turbo sound through the IC now? THEIR IS A DIFFERENT SOUND BT NOTHING EXTREMELY NOTICABLE. A OPEN AIR INTAKE WILL BRING MORE TURBO SOUND
Also your comparison comments with PPE help validate what I assumed watching the videos. The SPE appears heavier and more robust in design. The PPE is similar to NoLimit by their own comments about being copied.
Knowing what you know now, If you did over; would you accept a lower cost and little less value from PPE or NoLimit or still go with SPE? ABSOLUTLY NOT, 100% SPE. I AM WILLING TO BUY ONCE CRY ONCE AND KNOW I HAVE THE BEST MONEY CAN BUY. LIKE MOST PEOPLE IN THIS FORUM I AM AFTER LONGEVITY VS HORESPOWER/TORQUE GAINS.
Ha! Chuckling... can relate, enjoy mods and tweaks... even entertaining "pretties"...
Approaching 70 and retirement, my self-justificaiton is to get what I "need / want" while working.
It's an equilibrium of "Need vs Want" and which one wins the internal debate... then Wife Justification story.
Awesome story...
I've got an awesome wife and partner... she does not give me a hard time on spending money on truck stuff because I dont have that new truck I wanted payment anymore, still pay the bills, she contributes as well and she buys what she wants but she's NOT high maintenance... she knows my truck is my hobby....

Absolutely agree with you... I tend to always go the premium route for quality and reliability. On items I don't know, it's longer path to self justify, I don't want to pay premium for no gain in craftsmanship or performance... SPE has always been a top notch, top quality shop. Every item I've purchased from them has been the best in my opinion. The price of SPE basically stimulated this search of all the Forum's experience... attempt to verify my justification. The one item I wavered away from SPE was their Emissions Intake and Charge Pipes, I felt Pusher provided a nice set of equal performance and better appearance.
Ha, appreciate the volume!! ... served 3 yrs Pentagon DAMO-C4 for 3 Generals (1,2,3 Star) in 80's... transitioned form Carter to Reagan. The BOLD print was quite loud the next few days with celebrations back and forth D & E Ring: Joint Chief Staff, E Ring, DAMO-C4, D Ring.

We have similar in Wife's... Over the Years she's gotten adjusted in my play toys: Truck, Photography, Drones, Wood working... She smiles and listens, almost cute how I feel I need to share til I realize she has zero interest knowing what a Cold Charge Pipe, Radius Arms, etc. Her world isn't impacted so she has no concerns. But, mine's a bit of a Princess.. she likes her Sparkly gems and consuming multiple closets within house... good thing kids are gone. No Complaints.

Yep my wife is similar but minus the sparkling expensive stuff... she's a keeper alright.

Reason: Correct post
Gonna slightly deviate... Supplying the Air for the IAC.
Speaking of quality components and SPE.
Has anyone seen SPE's video on branching out to Ram and GM?
SPE released a video on their new prototype Ford 6.7 CAI kit.
Package looks great... the air filter they indicate can be Dry or Oiled.
I asked what their efficiency rating: ISO5011 rating, hadn't heard anything back.
I liked the quality of build for the Banks CAI, Nice design, fits & looks great and installed last year.
Watched 2 new YouTubes on Air Filter... Speed Lake and Freedom Worx
I've since learned that Banks Monster Filter ... is only 98% efficiency by the ISO5011 tests.
I couldn't find the Banks ISO5011 so I called them... they provided over the phone it was 98%.
That is actually concerning, that's on the poor quality side... allows a lot of dirt to enter engine.
Stock Ford OEM Air filter is 99.21%, S&B Dry 99.54 / wet 99.42%.
Difference between 98 and 99 is a huge difference, between Stock 99.2 and S&B 99.5 significantly less dirt than stock.

They probably should've given you the rating on wet vs. dry (and also with and without the dust sock). That rating is a little troubling to discover, since I have had my Banks system installed for a good while now. However, I opted for the dry filter with the dust sock. So, I'm wondering if including the sock improves that rating or not...

Great question, I asked as well. He stated their Wet and Dry was the same rating. Their dry was 3 ply and wet 5 ply… so that balanced out rating.
I too run their outter sock… which is for mud or large debris, had no bearing on the ISO5011 Filter rating.
Keep in mind, the efficiency will improve as it gets dirty.
I was shocked to learn my expensive Banks filter was 98%… In air filter specs that terrible for stopping the 5-10 micron dust, which as the attached videos show is the most damaging.
The S&B contrary to Freedom Worx statement, per the 6.7 Filter ISO5011 (on web site) is better than stock. I’ll be planning a move to S&B… probably with a WCFab Aluminum Airbox… they use S&B Dry Filters. If rebuying a CAI… I may take a splash of color too!

Thanks for the response, although the news isn't any better, lol. I wonder if there's an alternative filter that could be used in place of the one Banks provides? That might improve things.
I reckon I could remove the filter and take measurements, then see there are alternatives available with dimensions to fit. Perhaps cover the existing filter with a thicker foam ring (made of material similar to OEM)...

Adding a comment to above… regarding SPE CAI filter. I’m curious as to their ISO5011 rating. I noticed the SPE filter was Blue. The Donaldson Filters, have a Blue Premium Line that is their highest efficiency filters. I’m curious if SPE contracted with them for filter.

My first thought was use a S&B 4”… but the Banks Monster is a Monster, not workable. Banks is a large oval. Actually it looks like the new SPE from video may be similar size at base.
From my reading… all the covers: net, foam, etc are for large debris not as small as the filter traps.
If you find a solution… let us know. Probably many with a Banks that might be interested.
Overall Banks was fully focused on high flow… rewatching Banks video they only stress flow rates.
The AFE Proguard 7 Dry is ISO rated 99.7% efficient while the Wet Proguard 7 is 99.8%.
Dust socks do no not increase filter efficiency but it does improve load capacity
