Good morning cowboys, Veterans & Patriots....

I survived the Home Depot shift yesterday

Got home to a late lunch .....

Didn't get anything done at home...

Today is my hand Doc appointment late afternoon.
53°F right now with 10 - 15 mph winds...... 69°F looks to be our high temperature.
Should be a good outside workday.....

Just about 0700... Time for food and more coffee....

Have fun today and work hard......

Howdy Roy, George and friends,

This year it seems is taking a lot to get ready for winter. Besides the normal stuff there seems to be lots of things added and or going wrong. Last year I noticed that we have a small leak somewhere in our water system, I have two lines leaving the pressure tank I have it isolated to the main line coming to the house. I have one spur line coming off of that, there is a stop and waste valve for one outdoor spigot on that line this fall it stopped wasting. I had to shut the whole system down to drain that one line. I think I know where the leak is now though and it is not that valve but another 1" ball valve at the house, when I went to shut it off the handle just twisted off, and it looks pretty moist down there with sand almost to the top of the valve. But wait there is more. Now that we are not irrigating, the water coming out of a frost free valve is rusty. After you let it run maybe ten or fifteen gallons it runs clean, until the next time we open it up. That's the valve that we use to water the chickens and Donkey Odie.

Looks like I have work for the back hoe, now I just need the time to do it.

I have a similar problem, Tim. A section of a basement wall was getting wet. Looked like where the well line ran into the house through the block wall. Got that replaced. Still wet. More checking, looks
like sand is coming in with the water. Only place sand would be would be in the well line. With check valves on the pump and pressure tank water would only leak when pump running.
When we had the well drilled, I ran an extra water line and electric line so if anything happened , wouldn't have to dig the whole distance again. Especially since now there is a walk way and a
porch roof over the line. Right now trying to figure out if it's the water line or? When we dug for the basement one section had water seepage .Well driller hit water at 7 1/2 ft. about the depth of the basement floor. Water just started coming in from the other side of the basement. There has been recent tremors which caused heavy foundation rocks to fall into the old basement. Next in line will be to put a
"food dye " into the well to see if that is where the leak is coming from. County Health Dept didn't recommend that. Have to do more research. Hopefully trying to avoid doing more digging.
The joys of home ownership.

Evening Roy and Mike.

George, it would be a pain but what if you were to not run any water for a day or two. Could you relieve the pressure and see if the seeping stopped?

Was wondering how the water deal was going with all the effort you put into it in '24. Digging of any kind is hard work. These new valves are not all that great either.

Two completely different systems Steve. The one I have been chasing this last year is the community water system that I'm the president of. The system I was talking about today is my own system, mainly used for irrigation, water supply to the shop and water for the chickens and out Donkey.

I would guess you have a bunch of work to do.....

Only use PVC or better yet PEX Pipe and brass fittings and Valves. NO NO NO Steel.

Had a good visit with the hand doc today.

I have not felt really well and been tired. I took the day off.
I hope to feel well and have the energy to accomplish a bunch tomorrow.

busy Roy. Between work and getting the house sorted out since my mom passed back in January ( mostly just cleaning and the like) and now my younger brother is out of commission for a few months as he recovers from a stroke that happened last month. I get to work on the truck here soon. Needs rear brakes done.

Does sound like you have plenty to keep yourself busy.

Is your brother getting better........
