Tailgate Step

I just picked up a '19 F150 King Ranch. About the only thing it doesn't have that my F350 did is the tailgate step... a must for me since, being in my 60's, getting up into the bed isn't as easy as it was 20 years ago. So, just wondering, does anybody have any insight into the inner workings of a standard tailgate versus one with a step? If I were to buy one at a junk yard (of the same year), could I gut it and put the step and top cap in my current tailgate?

The tailgates are different internally. If you buy a tailgate with a step in it, make sure that it's one that will work with your truck, then have it painted to match.

Or, you can get a retractable step for your rear bumper.
