"IF" I remember right to get the tailgate step that pulls out, you have to buy a whole tailgate, as yours can not be changed to adapt. BUT, I'm old and my memory isn't quite what it used to be!!!!

I have a 2025 with the step. I got the lasfit tailgate protector (wanted to match the bed protector) and though it doesn't fit perfect if you secure it with the tape and existing bolts in the tailgate it fits good. I have no issues and you cannot tell it isn't made for it.

I went down this rabbit hole a couple years ago. I was told you need to replace the whole tailgate. I opted for a fold down step at the corner of the bumper. It's this, though this may be a newer model than mine. I love it. It's faster and easier to deploy (no hands needed) than the tailgate step, feels remarkably solid and still works great several years later. I use it all the time because I have bad hips. The only downside is it's visible all the time. Doesn't matter to me, but I had one guy say it was a "***** step". I think he lacked confidence in his masculinity. He probably had ********* hanging off his receiver too.
