First post - Advice
I'm from central NJ. Looking to buy an F250 for a personal/recreation vehicle. I've owned, in the past, a 2005 F450 dump and F350 pickup. Both had 6.0 and were relatively trouble free. They were work vehicles for my landscape business. I changed careers and commute A LOT, so I've been buying cars. I'd like to get a pickup to get a little more active hunting and fishing. I thought about various SUV's and nearly went down the road of a Landcruiser or Lexus GX. I get the whole Toyota reliability thing and appreciate all the enthusiasm for the brand/s - but they are so overpriced.
Anyway, I've been zeroed in on an extended cab F250 in XL or XLT trim with the 6.2L gas motor. I love diesels but they're too complicated an expensive now and I don't thing occasional use is good for any diesel. I know doing your homework definitely pays off with a used purchase. I'm trying to be diligent about that. One thing I never looked for or atin the past is idle time. I found a pretty nice example with about 100k miles but it has 3900 total hours with 1600 idle hours. Should that chase me off. It seems quite clean and the seller says theres a good service history, but 1600 seems high.
I guess that's it for right now as far as questions.
Appreciate in advance
John
Just have to make sure the maintenance kept up with how it was used.
But, the thing to do is not get in a hurry to buy, take the time to find the right truck, lots of them out there.
