Why is the E 350 starter so much smaller?
Recently purchased an 03 E 350 7.3 PS. I've had several F series 7.3's.
The starter on this van looks like it belongs on a Nissan pickup. Why is it so much smaller than the F series starters?
Now that I think about it, I had a 97 E 350 7.3 and I don't remember that starter being any different than the F series.

gear reduction starters can be fairly small yet powerful
I bought one for mine and it half the size of the factory direct drive one
