The recent OTA update to fix the display issue/recall has borked the autofold function of the mirrors on our 2025 F250 Lariat. In fact, when the update was done, everything on the dash and radio was reset to the factory settings.

I have gone into all the settings and returned them to what I had set up, but for some reason, the mirrors will not fold as they did before the update. I can get them to fold either on locking or unlocking, but not both ways.

I have searched high and low for methods to fix the autofold function and everything I have tried has failed.

Does anyone have a surefire fix to this, without going to the dealer?

The selection to 'fold mirrors on lock' should ALSO make them unfold when the truck is unlocked. I leave the feature off 99% of the time and haven't used it since the OTA update, so I can't tell you if mine still work properly or not, but you may just need to take it in...definitely sounds like a glitch.

 

Could always try the windows method.. turn it off and turn it back on. ..unhook the battery(ies) for a bit, then hook them backup.

 

Pretty sure the latest OTA update is what broke my auto fold mirrors completely. They don't work at all now. they move like 1/2" open/close and just stop. After like 4 tries with the button the button itself just stops working for a few min. I thought they started to work out of the blue but they just got stuck like 3/4 way closed. **** part is that when they stop working mid fold, you can't actually fold them back in or out as they don't lock into place. I had to apply power to the window motors are the connector to get them to fold back out fully into lock position so I could drive the truck. More Ford ***** design at it's finest.

I have since disconnected the telemetric computer completely to stop Ford breaking my truck anymore.

I too have noticed some strange things with my mirrors since update. Mine will randomly close while parked. Autofold is turned off. Has done it a couple of times now, but I can't get figure out any kind of pattern to it. Wondered if there was some sequence on the key fob that would cause it. That would be pretty cool actually.

 

I think I may try this as a last resort since so many things would need to be reset after a disconnect. Yeah - I am lazy and do not even like changing clocks in the spring and fall.

That is way more serious than what I am experiencing. Good luck to you on getting it figured out to make them functional since you had to pay for the folding mirrors!

 

I agree - there is no pattern. Sometimes the mirrors fold upon locking, then they don't. Makes it very hard to troubleshoot. I am probably looking at having the dealer check into the programming to fix it. I do not have forscan to check settings.

Don't bother wasting your time, they are just going to tell you to go to the dealership to have it looked at after they gather all your info. They are not here to actually troubleshoot anything, they are just here to gather data.

 

Ya "Ford" popping up like a groundhog on this site is tiring, and about as useful.

 

Update - I have not yet taken it to the dealer for evaluation, but for some unknown (electrical? programming? system update? full moon?) reason, the mirrors started folding again. The only thing that I did was go into the display and view the list of OTA updates. The list shows the update that borked the mirrors in the first place. After I closed the screen, the mirrors started working again. Will let the Ford dealer know what happened but am sure that is where it will end - until the next time it does not work. Yay for gremlins.

 

How did you get to the list of the updates.

 

Go to Settings,
Swipe left to move to the next screen,
Select Software Updates,
Select Update Details.
