I have noticed on my 24 F350 when the mirrors fold the driver's side is about 4 seconds slower than the passenger side in folding in. I took the pickup to the service dept for this, as well as some other items.
When I went to get the pickup, I was told that all Super Dutys mirrors fold in at different rates and there is no adjustment for them.
Maybe this is true but I have a hard time believing that.
Anyone know if this is true or not? If not, what is the fix?
Same here. My drivers side is usually faster though. I had read somewhere that supposedly the passenger side extends out/back just a hair farther than the driver side... not sure if that is true, but the main thing is that it has bee consistent the entire time. That tells me they are still good to go.
However, I have noticed that on super hot and clear, sunny days, if I park with my driver side mirror facing the sun the entire day, when I jump in and crank the truck the driver side mirror may not open back up automatically. I will have to hit the button inside a time or 2 to get it going. I don't know if it's because it gets super hot and does something to the internals for a moment... but it has done this since new. I have also asked the dealership about it but of course they couldn't replicate it so nothing was done.
They are electric motors that are mass produced, same with the bushings inside the housings. They absolutely will move at different speeds. 4 seconds seems excessive and it likely should be replaced, mine are less than a second different in both fold in/out and extend/retract.

Condition normal. On my fourth SD, they have all done this. Keep an eye on it though as it seems a little slower than most. Had one replaced on my 2012 Lariat in 2015 under warranty because it stopped working. Cost for the mirror, part only, was $1850 at that time (covered).

My dad had sort of the same problem on his 12 F150 when the drivers door was in intense sunlight the mirror adjustment **** wouldn’t function until the interior cooled down. Started as intermittent then became a constant issue. Warranty replaced the adjustment **** and all was well. I remember the Dealer saying there was a temperature safety located within the **** to limit current and sometimes it fails under high temps. This was 10+ years ago so I could be remembering wrong but the replacement is still working fine to this day.

That's interesting to hear. So far the button inside has never failed. And the mirror only does this in intense heat, which isn't that often.
