Hi, guys I noticed that the mirrors are not circular but rather oval in which position they should be since it's not circular and I tried to adjust them but still can't see any thing in the back.

How about a clue as to what Truck, model and year you are requsting information?
Put in a pic of your 56's mirrors. They may be or not be original. Abe knows mirrors inside and out. He may answer more. I just cobbled up some mirrors from Abe's parts and junkyard parts and I can see great out the rear now. Maybe you have the little mirrors like I had that are nice looking but worthless to see out of.

Those look like peep mirrors, no good for me, but they may be original for your truck. If you have the manual for your truck, it will specify the original mirror, but looks like they have the same mount for the bigger trucks. I will check when I go out to my barn and see what I can dig up.
Safety first for me, originality second.

Yup sticks out more than mine.
Could you adjust the position of the hinge?
Yes the arm is adjustable. I ended up making power mirrors because the originals never held the position. Every time the door opened and closed they would move.
