Oil question....but not about which is "best".

Just did an oil change on my 2012.
I used 5W-30 like I've been doing for the past 30,000 miles...I remember reading a bulletin (somewhere) that although 5W-20 is recommended for the 6.2, it can also be run using 5W-30.
Today I read that this only applies to the "newer" versions of the 6.2...whatever THAT means.
So anyone else with an older 6.2 running 5W-30? Noticed anything to be wary of?

I will usually run the 5w-20 in the winter months, more so for the cold-starts than anything else, and switch to the 5W-30 for the summer when we tow 95% of the time and the ambient temps can get into the high 90's...

The 5W is the same for both (characterized as "Winter", so no difference for either). Best to go to BITOG and suss out the answer there - but be ready for the "discussion"!

When I had my 2012 F350 6.2. I used MC 5w20 with 7,000 mile oil changes its entire ownership. When it went to the next owner it had 212,000 miles with no issues.

I changed my 2013 6.2 to 5W-30 few years ago and it eliminated all startup to ticking but the truck is always in the warm weather. I can see no difference when using the 5-30 over 5-20 and will continue using it. Our truck has never used any oil on either oil with 7K between changes.

I h e been running 5w30 in mine since I started doing the oil changes myself once my truck was out of warranty. Truck got what ever the dealer used when they changed it.

I use 5w-30 in my truck but my intervals are pretty short. I do a lot of short trips with occasional heavy towing, so I change it at 3k miles. Seems soon but that's about every 6 months.

5W-30 in my 2013 since Ford made the change.
Since 100,000 miles I've been using Valvoline R&P
with Purolator boss filters.
