Exclamation E4od to c6 conversion

Hi all new to ford trucks and needing help. i bought a 91 f250 custom with a 351w and and blown e4od trans. I read that a c6 conversion is the easiest way to get this truck driving again. I fear I made a mistake and need help fixing or telling me if I'm wasting my time. the C6 i bought supposably came from an 87 mustang floor shift. I thought this would be a simple swap and the more I dig into this the more I seam to be falling down the rabbit whole. the goal is to get the truck to move on its own power right now. so what all do i need to do to get this truck to move with what i have I'm not worried about the kick down right now but I do know I will need to address it. please help I have no idea where to start and fear I have wasted money.

First off, what is wrong with the E4OD?
Usually its an electrical problem, incorrect filter, something small.
E4OD rarely 'BLOW'.

What transmission is in the truck now?

'87 Mustang OEM automatic would be an AOD. No C6s in Mustangs of that era.

Fix or swap in a rebuilt E4OD.

Your '91 is going to want a signal to and from that E4OD, so you have a can of worms opening here anyway.

To ID the transmission and what it will fit, look at the transmission pan and count the bolts and note the shape. Also look at the bell housing and check the measurements. Compare to the info given here:

Either will work, the C6 doesn't communicate with the ECM.

As already mentioned there were no C6 transmissions in fox body Mustangs.

Yes, some people have had success by placing the MLPS in park or neutral and using the auto trans computer. You will get fault codes since there won’t be input from the trans.

Floor shift vs column shift has nothing to do with the transmission.
That's just linkage, rods & cables.

The E4OD is longer than a C6, so you'll need to lengthen the driveshaft and modify or move the transmission crossmember to make this fit.

That does look like a C6, but the C6 wasn't available in an '87 Mustang.
