That does look like a C6, but the C6 wasn't available in an '87 Mustang.
I believe the person I bought this from was mistaken about what it came off of. I know that I will need to move the crossmember as well as potentially lengthen the driveshaft. I read on a form from someone else doing this that the slip yolk should compensate for the small difference in length is if this is incorrect is there a vehicle that I should look for a driveshaft from That you can recommend?

Find a '91 with the same wheelbase as yours that came with a C6. That will have the driveshaft you need.

anything else I should be aware of that I will need to make this move on its own power besides somehow making the shift linkage that’s in there work with the column shift or swap it out does anybody know if E4OD linkage in the transmission would slide inside the C6 or would I need to find another C6 out of a truck and take that from it?

Search ebay for: floor shifter ford c6

Looks like you can grab a cheap $70 floor shifter that comes with a few universal brackets and hardware. Something from a salvage yard may be cheaper, but it could be hard finding an old C6 truck these days.

Potentially? No.
Yes you WILL have to lengthen the driveshaft.

Cross will need to be moved about 7 inches forward.
Driveshaft will need to be about 6 inches longer.

Your better off fixing what you have, or get another truck, just saying.
How do you not know that the C6 might be 'blown'?

Good luck!

. so what all do i need to do to get this truck to move.
Put the correct trans filter on the E4OD, and put the correct amount of NEW fluid in it. That should get it to move.

You didn't say how far it needs to move?

Yes, you are wasting your time and money C6 swapping it. You asked, there's your answer.

Used E4OD’s are a dime a dozen in wreaking yards and replacing with like in kind is the cheapest and easiest option.

But as mentioned put the proper filter in yours and refill.

[QUOTE=HydroDog;21682369]Used E4OD’s are a dime a dozen in wreaking yards and replacing with like in kind is the cheapest and easiest option.

I have had this truck for about 3 weeks and have looked far to find a transmission the issue I’m having is that everything that I have found used is 4x4 and the truck is 4x2. I bought the truck for 300 and a non runner and the transmission i picked up was another 300 so I’m only in this 600 as of now. I did put a filter and fluid in the E4OD with some anti slip but that was unsuccessful.

Have you tried using car-part.com to search junkyards?

Ok but did someone put a 4x4 trans pan on it or does it have a 2wd pan?

Because the filters are different between the 4x4 and 4x2 pan. If you have a 4x2 filter inside a 4x4 pan it will most iikely suck air instead of ATF and the trans won't go anywhere.

And....if you don't remove the o-ring from the trans, and you stuff a new filter up there, it won't seal and suck air.

Does your pan have a drain plug on it or not?
