New to me camper needs an ac (pre-wired). Any opinions on what model?
use is hook ups / dry camping mostly dry will be used all night in warm Temps, off 2000w3000w inverter or 2200w generator if needed for long periods during day. So actual watts used matters. Camper will be getting over 14000wh of batteries.
thinking about,
Houghton
gree / rebranded
inverter ac such as chill cube, turbro
if the chill cube wasn't 15" tall I'd just go with it. Any brands to avoid?
My one race buddy uses a portable 8000BTU A/C unit, the draws air in and expels the hot air through 3" or 4" dryer duct vents in the floor. His 24' black rounded-top enclosed car trailer maintains ~a 30°F temperature differential. Not really a perfect or elegant solution, but it works for a welcome respite from the sun and heat of being in the pits on asphalt!
I thought about going DC but the cost to benefit I'm not so convinced on. It would also require a larger charger to keep up on the drain while on shore power. Either way I'll be dependant on a generator with an 800-1200watt draw depending on temperature.
I wish people would include temp when talking about a/c power draw.
