I know this has been discussed but I can’t seem to make up my mind. Which replacement AC compressor is best? I am looking to replace the system on a 1997 7.3. I’ve heard good and bad about Denso and 4 Seasons. Seems I may be able to get the Motorcraft compressor but it is more expensive. Motorcraft part number I am seeing is YCC-193.
Thank you for the reply guys. Also do you know how much oil the system takes? I read it takes 7oz of PAG 46. The compressor came charged with 3 ounces of the PAG 46. Do I split the rest into the evaporator, drier and condenser? So 2 oz into the drier, 1 oz in the condenser, and 1 oz in the evaporator? Or am I overthinking it?
Even though the compressor may state it has 3ozs, I always drain to verify. I can’t tell you how many have been off. I never trust what the sticker says. I have had good luck with 4 seasons, seem to be the better of the Chinese compressors.
Hey guys another thing. I decided I’m going to flush the coolant while I have everything disconnected. House has well water and it does have iron in it. Can I still do the initial flush with well water and then follow it by flushing it twice with distilled water?
Hey guys so I finally got around to charging the system. It is cold but I feel like it could be colder. Doesn’t seem to want to stay super cold at idle either at stop lights etc.
Maybe I need to add more Freon? I completely emptied 1 can but the other 2 cans I had seemed like they still had about half in them, but the system wasn’t taking anymore.
Gauge was reading 50 on the low side and about 250 on the high side while running.
Im in south Florida very hot and humid here which may also be a factor.
